After investing 70 million dollars in Australia to find an alternative, the Italian company could not match the quality of Giresun hazelnuts.
Italian chocolate maker Ferrero invested around 70 million dollars in Australia to create an alternative to Turkish hazelnuts.
When the harvest there failed to match the aroma and oil content of Giresun hazelnuts, the company turned its supply back to Türkiye.
Industry representatives saw this as an important sign of the place of Giresun hazelnuts in the world market and of their superior quality.
